Getting Started
There are very few basics that you need in order to practice yoga.

Yoga mat
Our studio, like most yoga studios, has a wooden floor so your mat should ideally be non-slip . There is a variety of thicknesses that you can choose from to suit any level of comfort that you require, but the most important thing to consider is the grip.

If you are likely to perspire a lot (a very common thing with the more energetic forms of yoga) then you may also want to get a cotton rug to place over the mat. This makes it a lot more comfortable and also means the mat will last longer.

Props
Lightweight, sturdy foam or wooden blocks and long cotton straps are used as props to help Yoga students of all levels to attain increased flexibility and the appropriate measure of support in postures.

Clothing
You should wear loose, comfortable clothing that enables you to move freely.
